How long is the ride?
2 hours, we take you through the bush for approx 1 hour then down to the beach for a swim with your horse.
What times do the rides leave?
9am & 3pm. Every day. All riders need to be at Blueys Ranch 30 minutes prior to departure times (8:30am & 2:30pm).
What is the cost?
2 hour rides are $85.00 AD. Half day rides (3.5 hr) rides are $115.00 AD.
Can we pay with credit cards?
No, you will need cash payment. As we do NOT have any credit card facilities.
What do we need to wear & bring?
You will need closed shoes, long pants, and a swimsuit underneath. We do keep some spare pants and shoes for those without them. No need for a towel. Also, bring a bottle of water & camera. Water may also be purchased from machine at Bluey's.
Can we just swim in our long pants & then just ride home in wet pants?
Sorry, but no. Salt water ruins leather saddles, so you need to have dry pants to ride home in.
Do you need to have any riding experience to be able to do it?
No not at all. as we have horses to suit all levels of riders.
Can children do the ride?
Yes we have nice quiet horses suitable for children.
Do experienced riders have to ride with the beginners?
No we seperate each ride into groups so that all riders can ride at their own level.
I am an experienced rider but my friend is a beginner, will we be seperated?
Experienced riders can choose to go into the experienced group or can stay with their friends in the beginner group, this is your choice. However if you choose to leave your friend in the beginner group, you will meet up at the beach and all swim together.
Is the ride just a walk only, or do we get to canter our horses?
Our ride is a fantastic ride, and all riders get an opportunity to trot and canter if they choose to.
Is my camera going to get wet if I bring it?
Yes, bring your camera! You will get great shots at the beach. You can leave your camera on the beach while you are swimming so it doesn't get wet. However, if you have a
underwater camera (preffered) you can take it in the water with you. Underwater cameras can be purchased at Blueys Ranch.
Will I need a drink on my ride?
We reccommend that you take a bottle of water and we can carry them for you in our saddle bags. Water can be purchased at Bluey's Ranch.
Do you have anywhere to store my valuables while I am riding?
Yes, we have a large locker to lock your valuables in.
Do we ride in saddles, or bareback?
Your ride in saddles until we get to the beach where we unsaddle just for the swim in the sea. Then it's saddles back on for the ride back to the ranch.
How old do children need to be to join the ride?
If they are absolute beginners we prefer approx 8 years old. However, if they have some experience we will take younger children.
Do I need to bring a towel?
No, you will usually steam dry in our climate.
Will I be safe from (box jelly fish) stingers?
Yes, during the stinger season we supply all riders with stinger suits which is a full lycra body suit. We do however, advise you to bring a pair of socks to cover your feet.
Do you supply riding helmets?
Yes, we do, all riders must wear one.
Do I have to canter if I am a beginner?
No , we split the rides into groups so that each rider can ride at their own pace.
Can we buy any souvenirs as mementos of our ride?
Yes, Blueys Horseshoe Ranch souvenirs make great gifts or wonderful mementos of your horse ride. You can purchase:
